Explosion at Ningbo-Zhoushan Leaves 2 Dead

A powerful explosion ripped through China’s busiest shipping terminal Friday, killing at least two people and injuring dozens as a container exploded on a pier-side cargo ship, the government and state media reported.
The blast occurred at around 140 pm at the Beilun Port area of the Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan in the eastern province of Zhejiang, according to a statement on the website of the Ningbo Municipal Government.
The explosion left the ship engulfed in flames, sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky, as firefighters and emergency personnel rushed to the scene.
The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
