Kesha said she made the change because she wanted the song to be more empowering for women. "I wrote 'TiK ToK' when I was 18 years old, and I'm a different person now," she said. "I'm a stronger, more confident woman, and I want my music to reflect that." She debuted the new version on Instagram Live on July 13.
